I’ve always defended Ron. A lot of people see him as a jealous sidekick who somehow managed to get the girl when it was clearly Harry who was meant to get, her but I don’t agree. For me Ron was always one of the most human characters in the books. Perhaps it’s because our personalities are so similar but I could easily relate to him. It wasn’t hard for me to understand what it’s like to be the second choice, to always be the friend of someone who is better, smarter or more attractive. I disguise my feelings with humor too. I get intensely jealous and angry at my friends. I fuck up and argue over stupid things that I can’t let go of for ages too. But at the end of the day he was loyal and he supported Harry through the most scary and dangerous time of his life. He defended Harry when no one else would believe him. He was always there for those who needed him, from the time he was 11. I mean think about that. How many 11 year old kids (fictional or real) would put their life on the line for their friends? He grew up, he realized that he made mistakes and that he had behaved childishly and he helped save lives. I admire his character and I will defended him for as long as I need to.
